Austin City Council Election 2003

In the 2003 council election, the mayor’s position was open, as Gus Garcia did not run for reelection. One-term incumbent Council Member Will Wynn, whose first term was expiring, opted to run for mayor and beat eight opponents without a runoff.

Incumbent Council Members Raul Alvarez and Danny Thomas easily won reelection without a runoff.

The open Place 5 seat created by Wynn running for mayor was won by Brewster McCracken in a runoff.
