Austin Transit Partnership’s Board of Directors appointed Greg Canally as its permanent executive director March 1, 2023. That was a promotion from interim executive director position Canally had held since April 2022. He first joined the organization as chief financial officer in February 2021. Before that he was with the City of Austin for 16 years, lastly as deputy chief financial officer.
His chief responsibility is to be accountable for successful delivery of Project Connect, a multi-billion-dollar plan to expand transit options in the Austin area.
Canally’s 53-page personnel file includes a contract that states he is being paid an annual salary of $365,000, plus $1,875 a month in deferred compensation ($22,500 a year). His contract is for three one-year terms, automatically renewing each year, unless the board acts by November 30th not to renew. If he is terminated without cause or by mutual consent he would get severance for the remainder of the contract but no less than six months pay, $182,500. After three one-year terms the contract expires, although Canally and the board may mutually agree to renew, extend, or modify the terms of the agreement.
