Austin Transit Partnership Board Member Juan Garza’s certificate shows that he completed the mandatory training for the Texas Open Meetings Act April 18, 2023—not until two days after The Austin Bulldog filed a public information request for copies of board member certificates.
Garza was appointed to the board November 4, 2022. Texas Public Information Act requires training be completed not later than the 90th day after taking an oath of office or otherwise assumes responsibility as a member of a governmental body. Garza completed the training 134 days after being appointed.
