Local Government Records Control Schedule for Mayor & Council

The Local Government Records Control Schedule is approved by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. This schedule pertains to the mayor and council members, who are the custodians of the records for their offices. It specifies how long a local government record must be retained, based on how the custodian classifies it. Correspondence (including e-mails) and internal memoranda must be kept until the end of the final term of office plus five years if concerning policy and program development, and until the end of the final term of office plus two years if administrative.
