On October 15, 2010, the Williamson County Commissioners Court issued this statement to announce “the reasons behind our decision to hire an attorney to work directly with the commissioners court.” That decision cut County Attorney Jana Duty out of the process of advising the commissioners court and triggered a lawsuit when the commissioners court took an attorney from Duty's office and more than $100,000 to pay for that attorney and an additional person to establish a legal office under County Judge Dan Gattis.
