Texas Attorney General Opinion OR2014-07497

The Austin Bulldog filed a public information request February 12, 2014, for records that reflect how senior city staff members are notified they are supposed to file financial statements. In response, the City of Austin requested an opinion from the Texas Attorney General for permission to withhold such records on the basis of attorney-client privilege. This Attorney General’s opinion dated May 5, 2014, granted the City of Austin’s request to withhold from public disclosure the reminders that the Law Department issued because they were made for the purpose of facilitating the rendition of professional legal services.
