We are deeply grateful for support

The Austin Bulldog’s fundraising efforts have always taken a back seat to doing investigative reporting that makes a difference. But even with our low-key approach to asking for support, over the years more than 330 people have made a tax-deductible contribution at least once. Some have contributed almost every year—or even every month—to support and sustain this important work. We are proud to recognize the name of each supporter’s total contributions below.

The Austin Bulldog started with a $25,000 New Voices grant approved in 2009 by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. That money was used to obtain IRS approval of our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and build the website we used to launch publication April 1, 2010. We finessed the April Fool’s Day launch by saying, “We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take our reporting very seriously.” We still do.

Our mainstay local support has been provided by the Austin-based Kirk Mitchell Public Interest Investigative Journalism Fund and community supporters just like you.

Local support makes all the difference

The Austin Bulldog has no hidden agendas, no invisible people behind the curtain to influence what we do or do not investigate or how our coverage may have been influenced. To that end, the names of all contributors are gratefully acknowledged and permanently recognized on this website. While contributors may request anonymity, we much prefer to list our donors by name so that there can be no question of the source of funds that make our work possible.
